– Lashes from KoKo Lashes are one of my fave lashes and glue from DUO
False lashes are like magic in a box! I feel like they instantly transform my face and open up my eyes. And they make me feel so good. But I know the struggle is REAL when it comes to putting on false lashes and that it can be a super frustrating process.
I have used false lashes almost everyday for years now, and here is my ultimate guide on how to apply false lashes:
Handling and Cutting Your Lashes
When you remove the lashes from their container, be very careful. False lashes are very delicate so handle them with care. Use a tweezer or your finger to remove them, by pressing down on the end of the lashes and pulling back slowly. Then, wiggle the lashes back and forth so that the band loosens a bit.
Place the lashes against your eyes to measure, then cut the outer end of the lashes so that they fit. You can also cut the inner corner of the lashes, just remember to cut both lashes evenly, or else it will look like you have two different pairs on. And keep in mind, that the lashes should be slightly shorter than your natural eye width for more comfort.
Applying and Adjusting Your Lashes
Put some glue on a piece of paper/tissue and use the glue tube to scoop up a small amount of glue and distribute it evenly on the lashes. Put a little more glue on the inner and outer corner of the lashes. And then wait – be patient. Let the glue dry down a bit before you put the lashes on. If you try to put the lashes on while the glue is still wet, it will be a very messy progress. When the glue is sticky/changes slightly in color, it is time to put them on.
Use a handheld/adjustable mirror, and place the mirror kinda low, right in front of you, so when you look down in the mirror, you can see your eyelids.
Apply the lashes to your eyes by letting them sit on your natural lash band. Then, using your tweezers, adjust them so they fit your eyes perfectly, emphasizing your outer lashes.
– If they feel uncomfortable, try shortening them further and only applying them to the outer corner of your eye. If you feel a little prick in the inner corner, use your finger or tweezer to gently tug the outer end of your lashes, shifting them away from the inner corner of your eye. This should allow the lashes to sit in place more comfortably. You will notice some heaviness for the first then minutes, but this will go away.
If you find it too difficult to work with the false lashes and the inner and outer corner won’t stick, try to cut your lashes in half – or even in 3 even parts if you prefer. (Image below) This makes it so much easier to apply on the eyes. Apply glue to each part of the lash and when you put them on, start with the outer corner. This way, you have full control over your lash. Adjust them on your lashes with a tweezer or your finger.

When your lashes are on and the glue is dried down, pinch your real lashes and the fake lashes together. This way, they will blend perfectly together and use a eye lash applicator to pinch them together. Finally, put on some mascara to blend them with your natural lashes.
Another tip: I use a lukewarm eyelash curler and then a waterproof mascara on my real lashes before I go in with the false lashes. I use 1-2 layers of mascara, let it dry, and then I put on the false lashes. When they are on, I go in with my waterproof mascara again, but only on my real lashes, so they blend even better with the false lashes. I do not put mascara on the false lashes to avoid mascara transferring on to my eyelids.
